Flames from the refuse fire at the Kingaroy tip lit up the night sky

March 20, 2015

Three fire crews from Kingaroy, plus the Stuart River Rural Fire Brigade, attended a fire at the Kingaroy tip in the early hours of this morning.

QFRS Kingaroy Station officer Bruce Groer said about 100 square metres of rubbish was on fire.

“It is more than likely that the fire was caused by spontaneous combustion,” he said.

Firefighters put water and a blanket of foam over the fire to extinguish the flames.

Council workers then used earthmoving equipment to cover the area.
