Some of the failing pavement in the lane running around the Glendon Street car park in Kingaroy

March 17, 2015

The Glendon Street car park in Kingaroy will be closed for two weekends to allow engineering surveys to take place.

The car park will be closed from 6:00am to 5:00pm on March 28-29 and April 11-12.

Glendon Street itself will not be affected by the  closure and local businesses will still be accessible by foot.

The closure is necessary to allow preliminary investigations to take place before a repairs in the area begin.

A South Burnett Regional Council spokesman said reconstruction work was necessary as the pavement of the car park and the adjacent laneway had failed.

The temporary closures will allow Council’s surveyor to measure existing surface levels as well as gather details of underground services. This will allow Council to calculate a budget for the project.

A timeframe for the construction work has not been finalised but the project should be completed between June and December.

    • When the council chopped down the trees in the car park behind the Commonwealth Bank, allegedly because they were dropping sap on cars, they promised to replace them. Not a twig has been planted. And they also chopped down the trees in the car park behind the Town Hall because they were allegedly dropping branches. So what chance have the trees in Glendon Street? Absolutely none.
