Veteran Murgon batsman Nev Kratzmann hit the top score on the day at Kumbia but it wasn’t enough to get the Colts into the Grand Final

The Kumbia Rattlers knocked out a brave Murgon Colts side last Saturday to earn a spot in this week’s South Burnett B Grade Grand Final.

The match will be played at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy.

Colts batted first in the decider which was played on the Rattlers’ home ground in Kumbia.

They were all out for 113, with opener Nev Kratzmann top-scoring with 66.

Next best were Tom Langton (12) and Trent Riddell (9).

Best of the Warriors’ bowlers were Ethan Cross (4/12), Warren Cross (2/8) and Shane Laherty (2/29).

In reply, Kumbia lost seven wickets along the way to overhauling the Colts’ target.

Top-scorer was Chris Medcalf (40 not out) while Shane Laherty scored 35.

Best of the Colts’ bowlers was Brad Vanderkolk who took 3/16.

Barry Fisher (1/12) and Ryan Jacobs (1/17) also helped to keep the Rattlers honest.

Murgon Crusaders, playing at home, overwhelmed the Warriors by more than 130 runs to cement their spot at the top of the table on Saturday … Murgon’s Mark Eisenmenger bowled Cameron Groer, above, for just five runs

The Murgon Crusaders finished A Grade Minor Premiers following the matches played in the South Burnett last weekend, which means they will host the South Burnett A Grade Grand Final on March 21 … their special Reunion Day which has been planned for months.

It should be a massive day at the Murgon Showgrounds with the A Grade action getting underway at 11:30am, followed by the Murgon Cricket Club’s trophy presentations and then a “Blast From The Past” social match from 7:00pm.

The Crusaders will play the winner of tomorrow’s semi-final between Kingaroy RSL, who finished second on the ladder, and the Wondai Wolves, who finished third.

The semi-final game will be played at the Wolves’ ground in Wondai.

Wondai batted first in its A Grade match against the Nanango Scorpions played at Nanango last Saturday.

The Wolves were all out for 284 off 35.2 overs.

James Cameron top-scored with 144 in a big batting display, while Ashley Louis (30) and Kiall Rowberry (26) added to the score.

Best of the Nanango bowlers were Stephen Kirkland (3/54) and Brendan Weil (2/56).

In reply, Nanango were bowled out for 172 off 32.1 overs.

Best with the bat were Stephen Kirkland (48), Dean Olzard (38) and Glen Doyle (34).

Wolves’ Will Mewburn (4/38) and Clayton Graham (3/8) were lethal with the ball.

Wondai won by 112 runs.

Murgon BBR Nailers defeated Nanango 73-44 in the U12 Grand Final, played at Nanango.

Lockyer Valley proved too strong for a young South Burnett side in the rep game played at Lyle Vidler Oval last Sunday.

Lockyer won the toss and elected to bat, and were all out for 114.

Best of the South Burnett bowlers were Peter Hourn (3/12 off eight overs), Tom Carney (3/17 off four) and Matthew Patroni (2/41 off six).

In reply, South Burnett were bowled out for 78.

Stuart Robinson top-scored with 24. Next best were Peter Hourn (13) and Tavis Hartwig (9).

The teams were competing for the Falconer Shield.
