A Murgon cattle stud owner bought the top-priced lot at the Southern Breeders Charolais Sale in Victoria last week.

Wayne Davis paid $5500 for Airlie Beatrix, a Charolais cow.

Mr Davis, from Barambah-Dale Charolais, told Stock & Land newspaper he was on holiday when he decided to drop in and take a look at the sale, which was held at Whittlesea.

He ended up buying three cows, including Airlie Beatrix.

Mr Davis said the four-year-old cow, with an Airlie Gunpowder calf at foot, had “caught his eye”.

“She is something really special,” Mr Davies told Stock & Land.

“We haven’t got many cows as good as her.”
