Two Nanango residents have been flown to hospital in separate helicopters after a serious motor vehicle accident on the D’Aguilar Highway near Nanango on Sunday morning.

Police and energency services personnel were called to the scene about 5:00am.

The couple’s Holden Commodore was travelling north into Nanango when it left the highway near the new overtaking lanes and crashed into a tree.

A woman, 26, and a man, 31, were taken by ambulance to Kingaroy Hospital with multiple injuries.

RACQ CareFlight’s Toowoomba and Sunshine Coast rescue helicopters then airlifted the two patients to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.

Police investigations into the cause of the incident are continuing.
