Police are investigating following a single vehicle traffic crash on the New England Highway at Glenaven, south of Cooyar, yesterday afternoon.

Initial investigations suggest that about 4:30pm a vehicle left the road and rolled several times before coming to rest in bushland.

The 56-year-old male driver sustained serious head, chest and internal injuries and was airlifted to the Princess Alexandra hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

A 53-year-old male passenger was treated for minor injuries and transported to Toowoomba Hospital.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the cause of the crash.
