The following address was also delivered at the meeting:

The Blackbutt and District Tourism and Heritage Association (BDTHA) has had a most productive and enjoyable 2014.

Nukku Nook received a facelift with freshly painted interior and new floor coverings, and local organisations have taken advantage of these very pleasant surroundings and are now using the building for meetings.

International Women’s Day on March 8 – organised by some of our members – was a huge success with 30 women participating and enjoying themselves.

Our new displays featuring Roy Emerson, Nukku School, the Nukku School Reunion, Timber and Rail were completed in September.

Members attended workshops run by Lydia Eggunike to learn good practices in presentations, and Bendigo Bank funded half of the associated cost.

We were very pleased to have locally born and bred Roy Emerson open the displays during his visit in January 2015.

We also presented a special display for the Blackbutt Agricultural Show in May, celebrating 80 years.

Memorabilia donated by Judy and Rex Bowman and Yvonne Ludke and loans from Darryl and Rene Morgenstein helped our display tremendously.

Our new displays in the Nook, the Mystery Object Display outside, as well as Bush Poetry organised by Ted Guy, were well received by the visiting public at the annual Bloomin Beautiful Blackbutt Festival.

And our fundraising Rail Trail Walks – to Linville one day and Nukku to Blackbutt another – were very enjoyable, as well as generating much-needed funds for our projects.

History mornings, which are now held on the second Friday of each month, have been enjoyed by members of the community.

Jenny Thomas, a descendant of the Scott family from Taromeo Station, was able to show us family bibles.

And Brian Bidgood related tales of his life while growing up and living in Blackbutt.

Bingo also continues to be enjoyed each Monday night at the Nook.

The Roy Emerson Day held in January was a very special and happy event.

Roy and wife Joy were very appreciative of a tour of Roy’s former home given by Billy and Evelyn Wilson.

Many people gathered at the Nook to witness the opening of the displays, and the Mayor’s luncheon held at the Golf Club afterwards was attended by over 130 guests. The Anglican Guild catered and the Golf Club waived the venue hire fee.

Friends of Cultcha folded this year and we thank them for their generous donation of $1287.40.

The Timbertown Woodworkers have also been very kind, providing us with wooden signs to be erected at the Nukku State School and Googa Creek School sites.

All of these donations have helped us to prepare for the relocation of the Nukku siding from Yarraman to beside Nukku Nook in Blackbutt.

We are extremely grateful to the Webber family for donating this historic building to us.

This relocation will be our major project for 2015.
