Two expressions of interest have been submitted to the South Burnett Regional Council over the proposed Blackbutt supermarket development.

The deadline for expressions of interest (EOIs) to be received was Thursday evening.

South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said this afternoon the next step in the process would be for Council staff to check the EOIs to see if they matched the criteria which had been set.

A report would then be presented to Council, possibly at the next Council meeting.

If the EOIs passed this first hurdle, the process would then proceed towards a formal tender.

Mayor Kratzmann has said previously the development of a supermarket in Blackbutt would probably hinge upon the relocation of Memorial Hall to a new site.

However, he has assured residents the hall will not be moved until contracts are in place. In the meantime, consultation with the community would continue.

Mayor Kratzmann said today he planned to meet with the Blackbutt community again within a couple of weeks.
