South Burnett’s junior athletes shone at the weekend’s regional championships at Caboolture, with more than 20 qualifying to compete at the State Championships.

The South Burnett Little Athletics Club sent 32 athletes down to Little Athletics Queensland’s Suncoast Regional championships.

Thirty were competing in the U9s to U17s age brackets, vying for slots at the next level.

Manager Kellie Pogany said she was very pleased with the results.

The athletes competed in hurdles, long jump, triple jump, shot put, discus and running events (from 70m up to 1500m).

Several achieved personal bests.

The Queensland Little Athletics Championships will be held at the Queensland Sports and Athletic Centre at Nathan, in Brisbane, on March 20-22.
