Will Mewburn gets another one away … on his way to a half-century against Nanango

Wondai defeated the Nanango Scorpions by four wickets in their A Grade cricket match played at Wondai on Saturday afternoon.

Nanango batted first and were 7/204  after 45 overs.

Brendan Weil top-scored with 56 while Stephen Kirkland (27 not out) and Dylan Gilliland (23 not out) held up the tail.

Best of the Wolves’ bowlers were Cameron Donohue (3/23) and Luke Hedges (1/20).

In reply, Wondai made the target in 41.3 overs, finishing with 6/208.

Ashley Louis (76) and Will Mewburn (50) had a strong partnership at the wicket while Kiall Rowberry made a useful 20.

Brendan Weil also had a good day bowling, taking 3/38 for the Scorpions while Michael Davies took 2/35.

Wondai’s Geoff Wallis was stumped by Nanango wicketkeeper Jack Fleming for 15 off a ball by Michael ‘”Freddy” Davies

In B Grade, Kingaroy RSL took on the Kumbia Rattlers in Kingaroy.

Kumbia won the toss, batted first and were all out for 84.

Best with the bat were Ryan Kelly (27) and Warren Cross (24).

For Kingaroy RSL, Jacob Arden took 4/14 and Brian Walters 2/13 in a good display of bowling.

RSL made the target, but lost eight wickets along the way.

Top scorers were Jacob Arden (27) and Karl Freeman (15).

Kumbia’s best bowlers were Warren Cross (4/30) and Dane Sommers (1/4)

The other B Grade match was played at Murgon Showground where the Murgon Colts took on the Warriors

Warriors won the toss and batted first

They were all out for 104 from 35 overs.

Hayden Wieck made 35 and Werner Blasius 26.

Best of the Colts’ bowlers were Tom Carney (3/17 off eight overs) and Ryan Jacobs (2/23 off six overs).

In reply, the Colts fell a few runs short, finishing all out for 93 off 29 overs.

Nev Kratzmann top-scored with 23 while Marc Riddel made 17.

Best of the Warriors’ bowlers were Hayden Wieck (4/17 off eight overs) and Tony Jenkins (2/17 off eight overs).

Warriors won by 11 runs
