A Kooralgin man was airlifted from Yarraman by the RACQ Careflight Rescue helicopter about 1:00pm today after a suspected snake bite.

The victim, 42, is believed to have been bitten by a taipan while working on his property.

A CareFlight spokesman said the man felt something bite his leg.

The Sunshine Coast helicopter was met at Yarraman State School by a waiting ambulance crew who transferred the man on board.

He was was treated and flown to Nambour General Hospital in a stable condition.

He is now in the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital.

This is the third South Burnett resident to be treated for snakebite within the past week and the 13th that RACQ CareFlight has transported since the start of spring.
