February 3, 2015

Students, teachers and parents at St Mary’s Catholic College in Kingaroy gathered together on Tuesday morning to officially welcome the new school leaders for 2015.

Fr Nigel Sequeira, from the Kingaroy Catholic parish, and Fr Michael Carroll, from the Murgon parish, celebrated Mass with the students in a packed Mary Knoll Centre.

Badges were then blessed and presented to the 2015 House Captains, School Captains and Student Council leaders.

The theme for the morning was “Let Your Light Shine”, and the students were urged to do their best at school and in the community.

All Year 12 students then gathered at the front of the room to recite their “Statement of Commitment” as the senior students of the school.

After the ceremonies, Fr Nigel – who was celebrating his birthday – was presented with a surprise cake to mark the day.
