Paul Clegg started as a Kingaroy junior cricketer in 1978. Many people believed that Paul could easily have played first grade cricket if he had chosen to leave the South Burnett District. The region is fortunate that Paul decided to stay, as he has become a great role model and ambassador for the game.

He has contributed extensively to cricket within the region. He has filled a volume of roles during his many years of involvement with the Wooroolin Warriors, South Burnett Cricket Association and Wide Bay Cricket.

Paul was awarded life membership of Wide Bay Cricket in 2013 after more than 10 years of voluntary administration work, and is also a life member of the South Burnett Cricket Association and the Wooroolin Warriors cricket club. He has also received not one, but two Administration awards from Wide Bay Cricket.

Paul was the Secretary for the first ever Bulls Masters game held in Kingaroy in 2010 and again in Murgon in 2012. He was also treasurer of the organising committee when the Queensland Bulls played a City v Country game in Kingaroy as part of Kingaroy’s Centenarycelebrations.

In addition to many other achievements, Paul has been successful in gaining much-needed funding and has assisted with several other successful funding applications.

Paul devotes an admirable amount of time to the cricket sporting community and is a worthy recipient of this award.
