The State Government has topped up the South Burnett Regional Council’s planned $650,000 investment in upgrading Murgon’s swimming pool with an extra $450,000.

The funding has come from the Get Playing Plus grants program.

It will allow the Council to build modern change rooms, a new kiosk, a dedicated first aid room and outdoor showers as part of the upgrade.

Work on the project is expected to begin early next year.

The new swimming complex is expected to be ready for the start of the 2015-16 swimming season.

Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said today the council could now call for tenders for the project.

The master concept plan for the pool can be viewed at the Council’s Glendon Street office, libraries, visitor information centres and the Pulse Sport and Recreation Centre in Murgon.
