Staff from the Council’s Nanango Customer Service Centre have been temporarily relocated inside the Nanango Library after the Drayton Street offices suffered water damage on Tuesday

December 10. 2014

South Burnett Regional Council will open a temporary customer service point inside the Nanango Library following water damage to the Council building in yesterday’s storm.

Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said water entered the old Council meeting room area and offices on the Henry Street side of the building.

However, as it was important to keep a customer service point open, a temporary facility would be set up in the library which would also be able to process payments etc.

Mayor Kratzmann said the storm also caused damage to local parks, with a number of trees down, and damaged the shade sails in the Scott Car Park.

The metal frame holding one of the sails has sagged and Council has barricaded off the area. The rest of the car park is open.

This is the second time the sail structure has been damaged, but Mayor Kratzmann believes vandals may have been to blame for the first damage.

“This time it was an act of nature. We will be talking to our insurers,” he said.
