Senior Dux Oscar Schmidt (Year 8) and Junior Dux Laura Tessmann (Year 7)

December 2, 2014

It was an evening of firsts (and lasts) at St John’s Lutheran School on Tuesday night.

The school held its first ever “Celebration of Learning” awards evening to mark the completion of the first year of high school study at the school (Year 8).

It also marked the last year that Year 7 students would graduate from primary school.

From 2015, Year 7 will be a high school class, in line with the State Government changes affecting all Queensland schools.

The night also coincided with the 25th anniversary since the founding of St John’s School in Kingaroy, and the 175th anniversary of Lutheran education in Queensland.

The Executive Director of Lutheran Education Queensland, Sue Kloeden, who is retiring soon after a long career in Lutheran education, was the guest speaker and presented some of the school awards.

Entertainment was provided by the Junior and Senior music ensembles, and the Junior and Senior choirs.
