Nanango farewelled its senior students in style on Thursday night when a large crowd of several hundred proud parents, relatives and friends packed Nanango State High School’s main hall forecourt for the school’s annual Year 12 formal.

The procession of arrivals began at 5:15pm.

Over the course of the next 90 minutes a steady procession of cars, trucks and even a few horses and carriages brought the rest of the Year 12 students up to the red carpet.

Once there, they smiled their way past a battery of photographers before entering the hall for the evening’s festivities.

After Wednesday’s night’s cloudburst at the St Mary’s formal in Kingaroy, some were naturally anxious the same thing would occur in Nanango.

But the storm clouds were kept at bay, and the night stayed dry and warm.

Earlier in the evening, many of the students and their partners made last-minute preparations – and posed for photos – at Nanango’s historic Ringsfield House.
