The Kingaroy Junior Motorcycle Speedway Club is inviting budding racers to come along to the club’s inaugural “Come And Try Day” this Sunday (November 30).

Club secretary Tracey Tunstall said riders – aged between 4 and 16 – were invited to have a go between 9:00am and 1:00pm.

“Riders will need to wear jeans, long-sleeve shirt or jumper, gloves, boots or shoes with no laces and a helmet if they don’t have motorbike gear,” she said.

“Riders can bring their own bikes in if they are up to 80cc semi-automatics. We will also have a PW50 and a junior speedway bike for new riders to try.”

Tracey said there was no cost to participate on the day and all riders would be issued a one-day licence to ride.

The “Come and Try Day” will be held at the Kingaroy Bees’ new speedway track at the Kingaroy Showgrounds (which has been built inside the main speedway arena).

Immediately after the “Come and Try Day”, the club will be hosting a Practice Day from 1:00pm for existing junior speedway riders.

“We already have interest from Ipswich and Brisbane riders to test the track and hone their skills in a safe environment,” Tracey said.

“This will be a fantastic opportunity to see first had what speedway is all about and how great it will be for Kingaroy and the South Burnett.”
