Murgon batsman Lehman Brunjes hit a ton to help guide the South Burnett U19s to victory over Bundaberg at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy today.

South Burnett batted first and finished with 6/242 off their 50 overs.

Coming in at number three, Brunjes hit one six and 14 fours on the way to an unbeaten 112 off 130 balls.

Peter Hourn held up the other end, hitting an impressive 57 before being caught out.

Alex Firman also helped the tail to wag with 13 off nine balls.

Best of the Bundaberg bowlers was Jamie Harris who finished with 2/41 off nine overs.

In reply, Bundaberg were all out for 164.

Harris was also Bundaberg’s top scorer with 59.  Opening bat Jesse Richardson made a good start and was 34 when Joe Roth took a sharp catch off Caylan Brown’s bowling.

The South Burnett’s bowling honours were shared around with Matt Patroni, Caylan Brown, Jared Sippel, Ryan Kelly and Peter Hourn all snagging wickets.

Sippel (3/27 off 10 overs – including a run out) and Brown (2/33 off 10 overs) finished with the best figures.

It was a hard game for both sides with the full 100 overs played in extremely hot conditions.

Wayne Kelly gets a ball away to the boundary in the Kingaroy RSL v Nanango A Grade match played at Nanango on Saturday

Openers Brendan Weil (82) and Mitchell Olzard (78) got the Nanango Scorpions off to a strong start in their A Grade game against Kingaroy RSL Services at Nanango on Saturday.

However, despite the best opening partnership in the competition so far, RSL Services hauled in the target to secure a win in oppressive heat.

Nanango batted first and set an impressive target of 7/246.

Mark Schmidt was on a hat-trick at one stage but finished with 2/14 off five overs.

Peter Hourn (2/52 off nine overs) and Chris O’Rourke (1/11 off two overs)  also damaged Nanango.

In reply,  RSL Services reached 251 in 30 overs with the loss of just four wickets.

Mark Schmidt scored a century, finishing with 108, while Lane Ferling (41), Peter Hourn (33 n.o.) and Simon Fairbairn (19 n.o.) also added to the tally.

Steven Kirkland was the best of the Nanango bowlers, taking 2/59.

Kingaroy RSL Services won by six wickets.

Murgon Crusaders downed the Wondai Wolves in their A Grade game played at Wondai on Saturday.

Crusaders batted first and made 209.

Jared Sippel (77) and Lehman Brunjes (26) top-scored for Murgon.

Best of the Wolves’ bowlers were Kiall Rowberry (3/34) and Clayton Graham (2/32).

In reply, Wondai fell short with 178 runs.

Clayton Graham (78) and Geoff Wallis (40) were the best of the Wondai batsmen.

Sippel backed up his batting by taking 3/40.

Richard Boles (2/17) and Shane Polzin (2/24) also proved effective with the ball.

Colts defeated Warriors in a closely fought B Grade match played at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy on Saturday.

Warriors batted first and made 172.

Luke Smith (24), M. Crossley (20) and Matt Nesbitt (18) were the best of the batters.

Brad Vanderkolk (3/22 off eight overs), Marcus Riddell (2/22 off four overs) and David Lesley (2/22 off five overs) were the best of the Colts’ bowlers.

Veteran Nev Kratzmann took 1/18 off his three overs.

In reply, Colts made 175 with the victory only secured in the last over.

Nev Kratzmann top-scored with 35, followed by Marcus Riddell (25 – including a six onto the clubhouse roof) and Tom Langton (21).

Best of the Warriors’ bowlers were Chance Olm (3/10 off four overs), Ian Haack (3/26 off seven overs) and Matt Nesbitt (1/16 off six overs).
