Smoke blankets Smith Road at Booie this afternoon

November 13, 2014

Eight rural fire crews worked to contain a fire in Smith Road at Booie this afternoon – the second fire along the road in less than 24 hours.

A QFES spokesperson said the fire broke out about 1:30pm.

It quickly crossed paddocks and lightly timbered country, covering about 5ha.

Firefighters had the blaze contained by 2:30pm and started “mopping up” operations.

The fire posed no threat to property but heavy smoke reduced visibility along Smith Road.
