Four … Will Mewburn sends the ball off to the boundary on his way to scoring 78 for the Wolves

Strong batting performances by Will Mewburn and James Cameron helped Wondai cruise to a win over Warriors in their A Grade cricket match played at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy yesterday.

Mewburn, who scored a century against Services a fortnight ago, top-scored this week with 78, closely followed by Cameron on 73.

Geoff Wallis added a handy 37 to the total,

The Wolves finished with 9/280 to notch up their first win for the season.

Best of the Warriors’ bowlers was Andrew Askin (2/26 off six overs) and Brodie Dionysius (2/44 off nine overs).

In reply, Warriors were all out for 194.

Taylor Herrmann was the best with bat, finishing with an unbeaten 55.

Andrew Askin and Kyron Tunstall both scored 25.

For the Wolves, Chris Bodey took 4/37 off seven overs, and Kiall Rowberry, 2/18 off three overs.

The Wolves defeated the Warriors by 86 runs.

James Cameron formed a strong partnership with Mewburn at the crease

Kingaroy RSL Services were brought back down to earth by Murgon Crusaders in their A Grade match played on neutral ground at Wondai Sportsground on Saturday.

Both teams were undefeated going into the match, although Kingaroy had played more games.

RSL Services were bowled out for 162 in the 40th over.

The batting honours were shared around with Simon Fairbairn (28), Mark Schmidt (23), Peter Horne (22), Tony Dugdell (20) and Chris O’Rourke (20) all making good starts.

Bowling honours were also a close call with Jared Sippel taking 3/31 off nine overs, and Richard Boles, 3/32, also off nine overs.

In reply, Crusaders made 4/168 off 42 overs.

Jared Sippel (56 n.o.) was the top-scorer with Ashley Sippel (28) and Daniel Thompson (27) also have a good innings.

Best of the Kingaroy bowlers were Wayne Kelly, 1/27 off nine overs; Simon Fairbairn, 1/20 off five overs; and Chris O’Rourke, 1/42 off nine overs.

Kumbia defeated Barambah by six wickets in their B Grade match played at Kumbia.

Barambah were all out for 128, with Edwin Simpson scoring 76 and Gene Barratt 17.

Chris Medcalf took 2/29 off eight overs for Barambah.

In reply, Kumbia easily made the target, finishing with 4/134 off 22 overs.

Top scorers for the Rattlers were Shane Laherty (54 n.o.) and Joe Milsom (45 n.o.).

Moses Moses was the pick of the Barambah bowlers, taking 3/35 off four overs.

Colts notched up a win over Services in their B Grade match.

Colts opened the batting and were all out for 147 in the 38th over.

Mark Riddell top-scored with 44 while Keith Walsh (20), Tom Langton (19), Marcus Riddell (16) and Aaron Vanderkolk (14) also added to the total.

Jack Horne was the best of the Services’ bowlers, taking 4/21 off seven overs.

Matt Patroni (3/48 off eight), Troy Miller (2/29 off eight) and Adrian Webster (1/16 off seven) cleaned up the rest.

In reply, Services were all out for 108 in the 36th over.

Louis Fairbairn was the best with the bat, scoring 26.

G. Kelly (21) and Troy Miller (15) added valuable runs.

Barry Fisher starred with the ball for Colts, ripping through the Services line-up, taking 4/3 off four overs.

Tom Carney finished with 2/9 off five, and Keith Walsh 1/12 off five overs.
