People looking for information on how to be involved in the 2015 South Burnett Community Leadership Program have been invited to attend an information evening on Monday in Kingaroy.

Hosts Georgie Somerset and Karen Seiler will introduce participants from the inaugural Community Leadership Program.

Also speaking will be community leaders who value the benefits of investing in people.

“The evening is a chance for the community to meet some of the 2014 Community Leadership Program participants and find out more about how they, their business or their community group could be involved,” Mrs Somerset said.

“This program is for anyone in the South Burnett involved in their local community, their industry or the region, to improve their effectiveness in their current roles and to potentially take on a leadership role if they are not doing this already.

The co-facilitator for the South Burnett CLP is Heather Ellis, president of Vision 21, the alumni of the Queensland Government’s Building Rural Leaders Program.

“The 2014 Program gave participants skills and confidence to make big improvements in their lives,” Ms Ellis said.

“People learn how to be effective in a practical way while building working relationships that can lead to building a stronger region for us all over the long term.”

Mrs Somerset said there were several positions available for participants to be sponsored onto the program with positions available to people affected by the 2013 flood event.

“We have been successful in securing a grant from the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR) to support our ongoing flood recovery, and this funding also supports our 2014 Alumni in their leadership development,” she said.

“The Program will be delivered in the Bunya Mountains in February and March 2015, with two residential sessions.”

The information session will be held on Monday, November 10, from 6:00pm at the South Burnett Enterprise Centre, 6 Cornish Street, Kingaroy.
