Kingaroy’s water supply will continue to be sourced from Boondooma Dam until the planned upgrades to the Gordonbrook water treatment plant are completed late next year.
Water was sourced from Gordonbrook Dam until a water quality issues earlier this year prompted South Burnett Regional Council to swap to the Boondooma supply.
A spokesman said today Council intends to continue using water from Boondooma Dam as the preferred supply for Kingaroy for the foreseeable future, with Gordonbrook Dam as a back-up supply.
“Once the planned upgrades to the water treatment plant at Gordonbrook Dam are completed in late 2015, Council will be able to blend the two sources,” the spokesman said.
“This should result in improved water quality and taste.”
