The South Burnett Regional Council has received clearance from Queensland Health to lift the health warning on Kingaroy water.

Water portfolio holder Cr Barry Green said today that Kingaroy’s water was safe to drink.

SBRC General Manager Infrastructure Russell Hood told southburnett.com.au last week that Council had been conducting weekly tests at six points in Kingaroy to measure levels of trihalomethanes (THMs) and he predicted the warning would be lifted this week.

Council started sourcing water for Kingaroy from Boondooma Dam when the treatment process did not lower the levels of THMs in water from Gordonbrook Dam.

The supply will remain sourced from Boondooma Dam for the next couple of months while Council reviews the options available for blending water supplies from Gordonbrook and Boondooma.

Monitoring will continue to ensure safe water supply.
