Murgon residents have been invited to celebrate the re-installation of a World War II 25 pounder outside Murgon RSL.

The gun, the location of which has been the subject of controversy for several years, was relocated from Kingaroy Airport late last month.

It has since been restored and repainted.

Murgon Business and Development Association secretary Margaret Long said today police would escort the gun back to the Murgon RSL Club at 3:30pm on October 30.

The parade will arrive at the Murgon RSL car park where the gun will be off-loaded from a truck.

It will then be permanently positioned outside the Murgon RSL Club on the lawn area near the National Servicemen’s memorial.

Cr Kathy Duff will officiate the unveiling ceremony and Glen Vonhoff will bless the gun.

“Everyone is welcome to come along and help celebrate,” Margaret said.

‘Tea and coffee will be served at the conclusion of the service.”
