The Burnett Mary Regional Group will be hosting farm walks in the Inverlaw area on Saturday (October 18) to discuss erosion rehabilitation.

BMRG, with assistance from the State Government, established a number of gully rehabilitation demonstration sites in the South Burnett in the wake of the devastating 2011-11 and 2013 floods.

Gully erosion caused by the rushing floodwaters damaged fences, dams, waterways, roads and other infrastructure.

The day will get underway at 10:00am at Mike and Lorraine Langley’s property at 496 Wooden Hut Road, Inverlaw, where the rehabilitation methods chosen can be viewed and discussed.

The focus will then shift to Peter and Romaine Undery’s property to view and discuss a rock rehabilitation structure in a dam bywash, before moving on to Phil and Rhonda Fairbrother’s property to discuss a low-cost erosion control method.

The field walks will be followed by lunch.

Bookings are required by October 16 for catering purposes.

Phone Vikki Evans or John Day on (07) 4169-0720.

Participants have been asked to  bring a hat, chair, sturdy footwear and sun screen.
