Yarraman residents are busy gearing up for the town’s annual “Colours of Yarraman” festival this weekend.

The fun gets underway on Saturday with a regional bowls competition at the Yarraman Bowls Club from noon (nominations are essential).

On Saturday evening, Youth Connect has organised an outdoor movie night in Errol Munt Reserve for Yarraman’s younger residents.

“The Lego Movie” will start at 7:00pm.

For older residents, an evening of music, wine and nibbles will get underway at the Yarraman Community Hall from 7:30pm. Entry is $10, which includes a complimentary glass of wine.

The winners of the Colours of Yarraman art competition and the H20 Small Business Awards will be announced during the evening.

On Sunday, the focus will switch back to Errol Munt Park where there’ll be displays, children’s activities, food stalls, tours of Yarraman Creek and a mechanical bull ride.

The day will kick off at 7:30am with a free community breakfast, sponsored by the Bendigo Bank, which will run to 9:30am.

The Yarraman Sporting Group will be organising free kids’ activities from 9:30am.

The winners of the Mobile Garden Competition will also be announced.

Instead of a traditional gardening competition, organisers this year decided to try to entice entries from local towns as well with a “Garden on Wheels” theme.

Entries can be big or small but must be Errol Munt Park by 8:00am on Sunday. The winners will chosen by public vote at 10:00am.

There’ll also be cow pat bingo at 10:00am and country singer Noel McGrath will hit the stage.

Wild Horse FM will be doing a special live broadcast from the park with on-air competitions.

Also on Sunday, “barefoot bowls” will run at the Yarraman Bowls Club from 11:00am to 1:00pm; and water sports will be at Yarraman Pool from noon.
