Guest speaker Len Woodward, from Kallangur Lions Club

Major Allan Kerr accepted a cheque from the club

September 23, 2014

Kingaroy Lions Club president Yvonne Dowling presented a cheque for $500 to Major Allan Kerr, from the Salvation Army, at the club’s last meeting.

The meeting was also addressed by Len Woodward from the Kallangur Lions Club’s Children’s Cancer Fun Ride Committee.

This group organises an annual cycling event which raises money for research at the Children’s Cancer Institute.

Next year’s ride will be held from April 13-17 in the South Burnett, visiting Kingaroy, Wondai, Proston, Murgon and Nanango.

The committee is asking Kingaroy Lions to help in providing accommodation and catering for the 80 people involved in the event.

The Kingaroy club’s second Women’s Health Information night, on the topic of Menopause, was held on September 15. About 70 women attended. The night was such a great success and so well received that the club may organise further sessions in the future.

The club’s focus this week is catering for the UAV Challenge which is being held at the Kingaroy Airport.
