Emergency crews had to cut an injured woman free from her wrecked car after a single vehicle crash near Widgee yesterday afternoon.

Police were called to the incident on Gympie-Woolooga Road about 3:15pm.

It is believed the 31-year-old woman lost control of the car as it rounded a bend.

The vehicle rolled and hit a tree.

Rescue crews had to use cutting equipment to free the driver, who was the only occupant.

She was stablised on site and the flown by the QGAir Rescue 500 chopper to the PA Hospital in Brisbane with back and chest injuries.

Gympie-Woolooga Road was blocked for an hour while emergency crews worked at the scene.
