A Brisbane man has been airlifted by the RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter service after being injured in a trail bike accident north of Goomeri today.

A CareFlight spokesman said the 19-year-old was riding with a friend on a rocky dirt track along a ridgeline when he fell off.

He suffered suspected head and leg injuries in the accident.

The man’s friend alerted emergency authorities.

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was despatched to the scene at 3:00pm.

The helicopter landed in a small clearing about 300m away.

The Critical Care Doctor and Flight Intensive Care Paramedic on-board the helicopter treated and stabilised the man for flight.

He was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a stable condition.
