beyondblue’s Big Blue Bus dropped into the South Burnett today to raise awareness about mental health issues and spread the word that help is available.

The bus, which is touring Australia as part of a National Roadshow organised by beyondblue, set up at the Nanango Markets before travelling across to Kingaroy for a free sausage sizzle in Memorial Park.

beyondblue roadshow team member Shaun Staunton said the visits by the Big Blue Bus provided an opportunity for a “chat and check”.

They tried to time them to coincide with other activities in town.

The bus originally wasn’t going to visit the South Burnett during its Queensland tour until organisers received a petition organised by Pathway 2 Hope founder Kaye Hibbs.

Kaye and her volunteers were busy manning the sausage sizzle in Kingaroy.

Shaun said trained counsellors could be contacted at beyondblue by telephone 24/7 on 1300-224-636 or by online chat from 4:00pm-10:00pm daily.
