Fourteen fire crews are currently on the scene of a large bushfire in the vicinity of Proston-Boondooma Road and Glencoe Road at Coverty.

The fire broke out about 10:40am and firefighters are currently providing structural protection to some properties and attempting to control the 400ha blaze.

QFES has advised that there is a lot of smoke in the area.

“Residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed and keep medications close by for any respiratory conditions,” a spokesman said.

“Motorists are advised to use caution on the roads. Any residents who believe their property is under threat should phone Triple Zero (000) immediately.”
