South Burnett Chorale members Anita Ferguson and Judy Wiggins

The lawns of Haly Creek’s historic Taabinga Station were packed with music lovers on Sunday afternoon for the South Burnett Chorale’s “Aussie With A Twist” concert.

Twenty-two members of the Chorale took to the stage, and were accompanied by several members of the South Burnett Community Orchestra.

Over the course of 90 minutes they presented a range of songs that included many traditional Australian favourites such as Waltzing Matilda, The Road To Gundagai and Advance Australia Fair, along with a few surprises.

Afterwards, guests mingled with the performers as they enjoyed a relaxed afternoon tea in the pleasant pre-Spring weather.

The Chorale’s members had rehearsed the songs in the concert for several months beforehand.

The singing group rehearses in Kingaroy once a week under the leadership of conductor Margaret Shepherdson, and new members are always welcome.

The Chorale’s next public performances will be their annual Christmas Charity Concerts, which are held in Murgon, Wondai, Kingaroy and Nanango in late November or early December each year.

All proceeds from the Christmas Charity Concerts go to aid local charities.
