Hardware problems on two of Optus’ three broadcast towers in Kingaroy are to blame for current problems being experienced by customers.

An Optus spokesperson confirmed today the company was having issues with its 3G service in Kingaroy, something that angry customers have known for more than a week and have been venting loudly about on social media.

Mobile voice and data services have been affected.

The load on the single remaining tower has slowed 3G services to a crawl and has also flowed through to the 2G network, the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said that as far as she was aware, the issue was confined to the Kingaroy area.
