Fifteen fire crews are on the scene of a large grassfire burning near Old Yarraman and Izzard roads at South Nanango.
A QFES spokesman said the fire broke out about 11:00am.
It is posing no threat to property at the moment.
Firefighters are working to control and extinguish the blaze.
Large plumes of smoke are visible in the area and residents are advised to keep doors and windows closed and medication on hand if suffering from a respiratory illness.
