Firefighters remain on the scene at Knight Street, Kingaroy, where a grass fire started at 5:15pm this afternoon.
The small fire was contained quickly however firefighters are now completing backburning to further protect the area.
No property is under threat however firefighters say smoke haze may affect the area around Knight, Hodge and Duke streets.
The QFES advises residents to keep windows and doors closed and keep medications close by if you have a respiratory condition.
