South Burnett CTC today marked the completion of a 20-week training program run in conjunction with Swickers and TAFE South West.
The program was funded through the State Government’s Indigenous Funding Pool program.
Two groups of five people studied for a Certificate II in meat processing, as well as undergoing “job ready” training involving resume writing. developing job-searching skills and sitting for mock job interviews.
After they completed the TAFE units, the students took part in work placement with Swickers or with local butchers.
Eight people graduated from the course, and four have already found jobs – at Swickers, Murgon RSL, a local piggery and a FIFO role at Easternwell.
CTC Employment Liaison Officer Lizz Geppert said CTC would continue working with the other graduates to help them gain employment in the local area.
