Police have arrested and charged two men in relation to a series of break-ins and thefts in the Goodger and Kunioon areas over recent weeks which included the total removal of a 12m x 6m shed.
Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, said police would be alleging that generators, a high pressure cleaner, a large array of farming-type power tools, a rifle and a quad bike were stolen.
A number of vehicles left in sheds were also entered.
Snr Sgt Frank said the hay shed was cut from its footings, dismantled and taken away.
The properties targeted were owned by Stanwell on land earmarked for the future Kunioon coal mine.
Most were vacant, although still being used for farming by their former owners.
Snr Sgt Frank said farming equipment and electrical items were also removed from locked and secure shipping containers.
The alleged thefts occurred over a number of weeks.
Snr Sgt Frank said some items had been recovered and returned to their owners, but there were also a lot of other items which had been reported missing which had not yet been located.
“Police investigations are continuing and there is the likelihood more charges will be laid,” he said.
“Police are trying to determine if more people were involved than the two already charged.”
A 29-year-old Kingaroy man was arrested at a house in Buckingham Street last Friday.
He has been charged with trespass, stealing and three break-and-enter counts, as well as possessing a drug utensil. He has been remanded in custody.
A 29-year-old Nanango man has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, stealing, trespass and four counts of entering premises.
Both men are expected to appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on July 24.
