Cherbourg’s NAIDOC celebrations this week have attracted lots of people to town – so local health workers weren’t going to miss a golden opportunity to share a healthy message with the community.
A special “health expo” was set up inside inside and outside the Welfare Hall on Monday morning.
There were stalls testing blood sugar levels, blood pressure and other simple health checks as well as lots of information brochures to take away and read later.
Cherbourg Hospital and Health Service manager Tarita Fisher said the expo was designed to attract people for health checks who would not usually present at the hospital.
There were also activities for the children to enjoy as well as a free barbecue lunch.
