Kingaroy’s Girl Guides have had their faith in humanity restored with offers to help pouring in to fix their vandalised meeting hut.
District Leader Amanda May said the community support had been tremendous since publicity in May about the group’s plight.
The latest donation has come in the form of a cheque for $1000 from the Kingaroy Rotary Club which will be used to improve security at the building in Mant Street by installing sensor lights and security grilles.
Immediate past president of Kingaroy Rotary, Cr Damien Tessmann, handed over the cheque on Wednesday afternoon.
Amanda said Swickers had also donated $500 and Pomfret’s Plumbing & Hardware had done repairs and supplied building materials.
Kingaroy Plumbing Works and Sunshine Mitre 10 had also donated items.
Assistance had also been offered by a local plasterer and a builder.
Amanda said the girls had been really upset that people would hurt their building, so it had been good for them to see that there were also people who wanted to help fix the damage.
