A Yarraman business has won a large contract to supply material to the Black Creek Dam diversion project currently underway at Tarong power station.

Yarraman Quarry is supplying about 13,000 tonnes of road base in two grades which will be used to form an inspection road alongside the channel.

The road base they are supplying is a chert-type rock with quartzite which must meet strict Department of Main Roads specifications.

Quarry owner Leon Gersekowski submitted a quote to York Civil, who are constructing the channel, and was very happy when he got the go ahead.

“Road base is the bread and butter of this quarry,” he said.

Yarraman Quarry employs three full-time and one casual worker.

It has been kept busy recently supplying material to construction contractors CMC and FKG who have been repairing roads in the South Burnett and Toowoomba council areas.

As well as road base, Yarraman Quarry also offers a  range of products, including feature gravel, drainage stone, boulders and sealing clay.
