The senior footballers were up in Gayndah battling out for the Burnett Cup and the Burnett Plate on Saturday, but back in the South Burnett, a full round of junior football was being played.

At Murgon, the U14s President’s Cup match was played between the Kingaroy Red Ants and the Murgon Mustangs.
Murgon came out on top, 26-18 with Cohen Beggs scoring four tries and Mitch Wilson one. Mitch was named Man of the Match.
Mustangs’ coach Stephen Simpson said he was really proud of how the boys played.

Over at Nanango, the Mustangs went down by just two points in a hard-fought nine-a-side match against the Stags in U18s.
Murgon were ahead 20-6 at half-time and were in the lead right up until the last three minutes when Brodie Cortes scored for the home team and then converted his own try to give victory to Nanango 34-32.
Mustangs’ fans were left rueing the fact that a Murgon try earlier in the second half had been disallowed when the ref ruled a pass went forward.
Try scorers for the Mustangs were Barwoo Fisher, Lehman Brunjes (2) and Austin Mason (3).
Try scorers for Nanango were Jack Ward, Ken Stewart (2), Nick Frohloff, Brent Greenslade and Brodie Cortes.
