A 22-year-old Maryborough man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court charged with carrying a knife in a public place after an incident at Kumbia last Thursday morning.

Kumbia officer Senior Constable Adam Entwistle said the man had called an ambulance claiming he had chest pains, but when the crew arrived he told them he had a knife.

Snr Const Enwistle was called to the scene, about 500m north of town on the Bunya Highway.

As the policeman approached, the man allegedly threw away a Winchester hunting knife with a 22cm blade which was found lying on the ground a short way away.

Snr Const Enwistle said the man, who had been staying at the caravan park, had been wandering around Kumbia with the knife.

“He complied with my directions and I rendered him safe,” Snr Const Enwistle said.
