Nanango Stags proved too strong for the home team Wondai in their U12 President’s Cup rugby league match on Saturday.

The game was played in constant drizzle at Wondai Sportsground but that didn’t stop the enthusiastic young players or their proud supporters.

The President’s Cup pitted the team in No 1 spot in the ladder at the half-way point in the competition (Nanango) against the No 2 points holder (Wondai).

Points from the game counted as a regular round of the competition.

The final score was Nanango 36, Wondai 10.

Nanango’s try scorers were Matty Early, Paddy Gentry, Nik Birch, Jake Keating (2) and Saxton Hamson (3). Tristan Cortes and Joe Smith each kicked one goal.

Wondai’s points were scored by Albert Dynevor (one try and one goal), and Kevin Hancock (try).
