Jane Hodgkinson with family friend Dan Roggenkamp who’s been helping out at the Trading Post

June 12, 2014

There’s a new team at the helm of the Maidenwell Trading Post … but they’ll be familiar faces to Maidenwell locals.

Frank Hodgkinson, who grew up in Maidenwell, and his wife Jane took over the lease of the cafe and general store on Tuesday.

The couple has lived in Maidenwell since 1987 but the Trading Post is definitely a change of direction for them.

Frank, who was in Kingaroy when southburnett.com.au dropped in today, recently retired from working at Stanwell Corporation while Jane has been working at the Burnett Business Centre in Nanango.

The couple met in Rockhampton but raised their three boys – now adults – in Maidenwell.

Jane said there had been a lot to organise in the short time since they had taken over, but EFTPOS was again available and the ULP and diesel fuel pumps at the front of the store were now re-connected.

The Trading Post will be open seven days, from 7:30am to 5:30pm, with cafe food served from 8:00am.

Jane said both takeaways and dine-in were available plus “great coffee”.

“Frank has just done his barista course,” she said.

“It will be basic home-cooked food … hamburgers, steak burgers, big breakfasts, pies, cakes and sandwiches.”

All the Yalbury Olives products will also still be available with a large in-store display.
