Representatives from South Burnett sporting clubs are being invited to have lunch in Kingaroy with Queensland Sport Minister Steve Dickson next Wednesday (June 18).

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington says the clubs will have the opportunity to meet Mr Dickson and hear more about the upcoming round of “Get in the Game” funding.

“Round 3 of the ‘Get in the Game’ sport funding program opens on July 1 and this is a terrific chance for local clubs to come along and hear more about the different levels of funding available,” Mrs Frecklington said.

“Minister Dickson is keen to help our local clubs learn more about ‘Get in the Game’ and encourage them to consider putting in an application.”

There are three different parts to the program.  Applications for “Get Going” and “Get Playing” open on  July 1 and “Get Started” opens on July 15.

“We’ll also be discussing the Get Started program which provides vouchers to families with children who would like to participate in a sporting club, but simply cannot afford to do so,” Mrs Frecklington said.

“So far, our government has issued almost 54,000 ‘Get Started’ vouchers State-wide to help children sign-up to a local sporting club.”
