A 47-year-old man has been taken to Kingaroy Hospital with arm and shoulder injuries after a collision involving a hay truck at Ironpot this morning.

The man was driving a Nissan Navara utility on Ironpot Creek Road just before 11:00am.

Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, said a heavy truck carrying hay bales was heading in the opposite direction on the narrow road.

As the vehicles passed each other, the ute and the side of the truck came into contact, dislodging the hay bales which landed on the road and on top of the Nissan.

The ute was extensively damaged and the driver injured.

The truck driver was not hurt and his vehicle was not damaged.

Police, ambulance and council workers attended the scene.

Police investigations are continuing.
