Wayne and Eleanor Kratzmann and Deb and Jason Frecklington in the new Lyrics Restaurant

May 30, 2014

The South Burnett’s latest restaurant was officially opened on Friday night at the Bunya Mountains.

“Lyrics” is the brainchild of Eleanor Kratzmann and her husband Wayne, mayor of the South Burnett Regional Council.

It’s located on the site of the former “Cider Gum” (and earlier, “Rosellas”) restaurants at Dandabah but has been totally rebuilt and redecorated.

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington did the honours, unveiling the new signage in front of 110 invited guests.

The Kratzmanns purchased the restaurant in September last year.

“We had this dream, this vision to build a restaurant where people from all over the world could come and see what we can do in the South Burnett,” Wayne said.

The couple set a crazy deadline for the project and then turned to local tradespeople to turn their ideas into reality.

All the flooring, woodwork, plumbing, painting, plastering and electrical trades work was sourced from the South Burnett. Much of the furniture was also bought locally.

The restaurant, which initially will be open on Friday and Saturday nights only, complements the adjacent Elz Bistro which is open daily from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Eleanor said the restaurant could also cater for small functions.

The restaurant features a large dining area, lounge, fireplace and well-stocked bar
