Two South Burnett schools were among the 74 statewide who were named as regional Showcase Awards for Excellence in Schools winners during State Education Week last week.
Nanango State School won the the Network Ten Showcase Award for Excellence in the Early and Primary Years for “Reading Revolution @ Nanango State School”.
Yarraman P-9 won the The Teachers Health Fund Showcase Award for Excellence in the Junior Secondary Years for “Reflective Pedagogy Conversations (Coaching and Feedback)”.
The Showcase Awards for Excellence in Schools competition gives Queensland State schools the opportunity to share in more than $370,000 in development grants.
The program has seven categories that aim to:
- Recognise, celebrate and reward excellent teaching practice in State schools
- Foster a learning culture that supports sharing excellent practices
- Create professional development opportunities and
- Promote public education.
As regional winners, the two South Burnett schools will each receive $1000 in development grants and now will go on to compete at the next level.
The 21 State finalists, who will be announced on Friday, August 1, will each receive a further $5000 in development grants.
Seven State awards winners, who will receive $20,000 in development grants, will be announced at the Showcase Awards Gala Dinner on October 17.
