South Australian Anthony Beare has raced home in front of thousands of people to win the first ever Street Stock Queensland Title that was held at Lucas Oil Kingaroy Speedway on Saturday night at the annual show meeting.

Beare, on his way to his 17th State and Territory Championship, was brilliant during a night of plenty of amazing racing and nail biting action.

The Street Stock feature went 40 laps non-stop and Beare and second-placed Josh Arthur from Hervey Bay ended up being the only two cars on the lead lap at the end of proceedings.

Oakey’s Jarred Ash, in his first season, finished third just ahead of Kingaroy’s Brad Mendes and Mildura’s David Dolic who rounded out the top five.

Earlier in the night Beare also smashed the Street Stock one lap record, setting a new one lap time of 16.946 seconds.

In the other events, Kingaroy’s Ashley Barron drove a brilliant feature race to win the Modified Sedan final from Gavin Fletcher and former NSW champion David Jacobi.

Barron was brilliant all night and started the final from pole position and held off plenty of challenges including some from brother Brett who ended up not finishing after contact in the closing stages of the final with another racer.

The final round of the Dirt Late Model “Boettcher Racing Parts” Thunder Series was won by Darren Kane who once again showed why he is one of the best in the country.

Kane also lowered the old one lap record to 13.408 seconds with a super quick lap early in the night.

Aaron Van Zeeland fought hard to finish second with Matt Ingrey finishing third.

The Wingless Sprints put on some excellent racing and the current Queensland champion, Scott Thomsen, won the 15 lap feature from Mitch Gowland and David Eggins.

In the Junior Sedan final, Joel Berkly got the win just ahead of James Kennedy and Kingaroy’s Hayden Jones.

Carter Armstrong had a mixed night, rolling his car in the feature after earlier breaking the Junior Sedan one lap record setting a new quick lap of 17.846 seconds.

Saturday night’s event brings an end of the South Burnett Season and after a huge and successful speedway season the club will break until the racing returns to Lucas Oil Kingaroy Speedway on Saturday, September 13.
